Between 18 and 20 warm white LEDs sit tucked inside the greenery, so the glow shines through the leaves with no bare wire showing. A built-in timer keeps it lit for 6 hours, then off for 18 hours, and repeats daily. It runs on batteries, so it needs no cord or outlet. The tree measures 34cm H x 17cm W x 15cm D / 13.4IN H x 6.7IN W x 5.9IN D, sized for shelves and tabletops rather than the floor.

The branches are molded plastic with the LED lights built in, and the LEDs stay cool to the touch. Dust it with a soft brush, and remove the batteries before storing it after the season. Place it on a stable surface where it will not be knocked over. Try it in a front window so it greets you each evening when the timer switches on at dusk.

• Cleaning: Dust with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads and spraying liquid directly on the item.
• Lighting safety: Switch off the power and let bulbs cool before cleaning or changing them. Use the bulb type and wattage listed in the description.
• Hardwired fixtures: Ceiling lights, pendants and wired wall sconces should be installed by a licensed electrician in line with local building codes. Plug-in lamps are ready to use with a standard US outlet.
• Outdoor and solar: Place solar panels where they get several hours of direct sunlight a day, and bring delicate pieces indoors during severe weather.
• Mirrors and wall decor: Hang with wall anchors rated for the item's weight, and check the fixings from time to time.
