Chinese Red Iron Solar Lantern, Hollowed Garden Light

This traditional Chinese style solar lantern is made of red iron with hollowed cut-out patterns that cast a lacy, decorative glow after dark. The rich red color brings warmth and a festive feel to gardens, patios, fences and courtyards, and it looks especially striking against green foliage or pale stone. Choose from three designs: Epiphyllum Oxypetalum, inspired by the night-blooming flower, a classic Flower pattern, or a Gold-rimmed version with a bright metallic edge.

The integrated LED gives Warm Light (3000K) at 0.5W and 50lm, a soft accent glow meant for ambiance rather than task lighting. It runs on solar power at 1.2V, so there are no cords to run and it charges during the day. Sizes vary by design: Epiphyllum Oxypetalum is the slimmest, Flower is the tallest, and Gold-rimmed is the most compact. Hang several along a fence or set them by the steps for a gentle evening welcome.

The lantern is iron with an iron shade, arrives preassembled and is rated IP65 for wet locations, so it is waterproof against rain. Place it where the solar panel gets direct sun for most of the day. Wipe it with a soft, damp cloth to keep the cut-outs clear of dust. For a festive look, group all three designs together near an entry with potted bamboo or red maples.

• Cleaning: Dust with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads and spraying liquid directly on the item.
• Lighting safety: Switch off the power and let bulbs cool before cleaning or changing them. Use the bulb type and wattage listed in the description.
• Hardwired fixtures: Ceiling lights, pendants and wired wall sconces should be installed by a licensed electrician in line with local building codes. Plug-in lamps are ready to use with a standard US outlet.
• Outdoor and solar: Place solar panels where they get several hours of direct sunlight a day, and bring delicate pieces indoors during severe weather.
• Mirrors and wall decor: Hang with wall anchors rated for the item's weight, and check the fixings from time to time.
