A small birch tree hung with glowing hearts brings soft light and a sweet, romantic mood to any room. The white trunk and bendable branches rise from a stable square base, and 12 heart ornaments dangle from the limbs, making it a charming piece for Valentine's Day, an anniversary dinner or year-round display in a bedroom or living room.

Twenty-four built-in LEDs give a warm amber glow with multicolor reflections from the hearts, and they stay cool to the touch. Power it with the included USB cable or with three AA batteries (not included) for cord-free placement on a shelf or dining table. A built-in timer turns the light on for 6 hours and off for 18, repeating every day, so it greets you each evening on its own. At about 65cm tall, it makes a gentle centerpiece without overpowering a nightstand.

The trunk and branches are plastic over internal metal wire, so you can shape them for a natural look, and the whole lamp weighs about 360g. It is meant for indoor use only; dust it now and then with a soft, dry cloth. For a romantic table, set it among scattered rose petals, two candlesticks and a pair of red napkins.

• Cleaning: Dust with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads and spraying liquid directly on the item.
• Lighting safety: Switch off the power and let bulbs cool before cleaning or changing them. Use the bulb type and wattage listed in the description.
• Hardwired fixtures: Ceiling lights, pendants and wired wall sconces should be installed by a licensed electrician in line with local building codes. Plug-in lamps are ready to use with a standard US outlet.
• Outdoor and solar: Place solar panels where they get several hours of direct sunlight a day, and bring delicate pieces indoors during severe weather.
• Mirrors and wall decor: Hang with wall anchors rated for the item's weight, and check the fixings from time to time.
