These vintage solar pathway lanterns bring a warm, welcoming glow to walkways, driveways and garden beds. Each square palace-style lantern holds a filament-style light that gives off a soft amber glow, the kind of lived-in look that makes a front path feel inviting. The set includes two lanterns, so you can frame a doorway, mark the edge of a path or light up a favorite flower bed with a matching pair.

A polycrystalline solar panel charges the lanterns in about 6-8 hours of direct sun, and a built-in light sensor turns them on at dusk and off at sunrise for about 8-10 hours of light per full charge. There is no wiring: switch each lantern on underneath, attach it to the extension pole and ground stake, then push the stake into the soil until the base sits flush. In cloudy weather they still charge, just more slowly.

The body is weather-sealed ABS plastic with tempered PS lampshades and is built for outdoor use. Give the lanterns a full day of sun before the first night. Wipe the panels with a damp cloth now and then so they charge well. Space them evenly along a path edged with boxwood or lavender for a classic, storybook entrance.

• Cleaning: Dust with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads and spraying liquid directly on the item.
• Lighting safety: Switch off the power and let bulbs cool before cleaning or changing them. Use the bulb type and wattage listed in the description.
• Hardwired fixtures: Ceiling lights, pendants and wired wall sconces should be installed by a licensed electrician in line with local building codes. Plug-in lamps are ready to use with a standard US outlet.
• Outdoor and solar: Place solar panels where they get several hours of direct sunlight a day, and bring delicate pieces indoors during severe weather.
• Mirrors and wall decor: Hang with wall anchors rated for the item's weight, and check the fixings from time to time.
