Choose a 1-light version, which is 14.5cm wide and 38cm tall, for a bedside or narrow wall. The 2-light version is 35cm wide and 38cm tall, giving more light above a dresser, desk or sofa. Warm bulbs keep the colors looking soft.

The fixture is made of iron and aluminum with glass shades, arrives preassembled and is rated for dry locations. Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth once the bulbs have cooled. Hang a pair of 1-light sconces on each side of a mirror for a sweet, balanced look. Style it with pastel bedding, painted furniture and a few framed prints. Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.

• Cleaning: Dust with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads and spraying liquid directly on the item.
• Lighting safety: Switch off the power and let bulbs cool before cleaning or changing them. Use the bulb type and wattage listed in the description.
• Hardwired fixtures: Ceiling lights, pendants and wired wall sconces should be installed by a licensed electrician in line with local building codes. Plug-in lamps are ready to use with a standard US outlet.
• Outdoor and solar: Place solar panels where they get several hours of direct sunlight a day, and bring delicate pieces indoors during severe weather.
• Mirrors and wall decor: Hang with wall anchors rated for the item's weight, and check the fixings from time to time.
